Freerice is an ad-supported website. It allows the learners to play and donate to charities by playing games. This site offers some easy games which are very easy to understand and motivates learners into learning through charity. The ads one can see on Freerice come from their sponsors and it generates money to donate to the World Food Programme (WFP). They use it to save lives and change live by working for zero hunger world. When one allows Freerice to use cookies, it shows personalized ads which generate higher rates of donation. This site is not sitting on a pre-existing pile of rice or money that they can donate immediately, the funds are only generated when a banner ad is shown on screen. The main objective of this site is to provide education to everyone for free and to help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.

The game of this site is based on multiple-choice questions, participant will choose a correct meaning of a word from the multiple choices. For every correct answer 10grains of rice are donated through World Food Programme to help and end hunger. The score of the participant is shown through number of grains that he or she gained with giving correct answers. To make Freerice games more challenging, there are difficulty levels for each subject. It contains with different levels like; language learning session has different levels of easy to hardest level of questions. The questions are mostly vocabularies. When the participant provides any wrong answer, there is no point deduction. But it shows the correct answer of that question. This thing motivates to play attentively. Another interesting thing is, the wrong answered question is repeated after some interval. So there is a chance to correct the mistake and learn the correct one.

The participant needs to open an account to keep the record of the points. One can participate in the multiple-choice games without opening an account but it will not be able to keep the sync of their progress after signing off from this site. One can easily go through with all the access point. They provide all the information about the whole journey of Freerice, media partners, sponsors, partners, help-lines and other tools. This site seems very friendly to the users because it gives a scope to ask questions (Freerice site related questions), leave a comment or report about any obscene issue, it also provides the updated information about the needy people and latest ratio of fight against hunger. In this site, they also shared the player’s activity score who earned the biggest amount of grains.
The main objective of this site is to provide free education for everyone around the world. This site includes various subjects like Math, English, Humanities, Chemistry, Language learning, Geography, Science. From these various subject one can easily choose any category and give a chance to learn by himself or herself without any financial cost through this site. This is a huge opportunity for people to learn different things easily, it has no age limitation, no social restriction and very simple to navigate . Anyone from anywhere can access this site, with a device and internet connection. This site motivates the learners to gain knowledge with so easy access. Here, a learner does not need to attend any class, does not need to maintain any schedule so it is easier to get involve in free learning session anytime. On the other hand, it also motivates to help the needy people by playing games. This website tries to accomplish the notion of to do something for the needy people of the society and when it is by playing some quizzes on website, it will be a great motivation for everyone.

Freerice website has some drawbacks at giving service. This website provide only correct answers regarding to the wrong answers, there is no explanation about the answer. Sometimes, it is difficult to learn a new term without any explanation. On the other hand, most of the question based on vocabularies, no sentence formation question. Only vocabulary learning is not enough for language learning, it does not provide complete communication element. Another drawback of this site is there is no option for audio, to learn the accurate pronunciation audio session is a vital element.
This site has some interesting elements for the learners to learn through charity but some changes can be added for more attractiveness. The developer can change the website’s design, more colors or design can make the site more interesting. Another idea is, developer can add some pictures with the words at the initial level of learning. This will be more interesting for the new learners. The most important element is audio option, they should add this option for the learners to learn accurate pronunciation.

  3. Hi, the way you've connected all the information together is praiseworthy. You've mentioned how good this tool is and the features that lack proper elements. I don't refuse to admit the fact that it's an amazing tool for building up one's vocabulary. However, I have my doubts about its attractiveness. Learning vocabulary in the same old-fashioned way, sometimes, can be boring and ineffective.

Thanks for sharing your well-organised thoughts on this thing.
